Idea for Canada

March 18, 2009

I was thinking — I wonder if there is a country in the world with a constitution like the United States Constitution that hasn’t drifted as far towards socialism as the United States has. I’m too lazy to search for that… but while I was thinking of that, I had an idea for Canada.

What if it adopted the original US Constitution, implemented the FairTax, incentives for establishing & growing businesses, and gave special incentives for Americans with annual incomes over $250k to relocate? It would be a bold, bold move, and I think they could “steal” a lot of America’s wealth.

I’d very seriously consider moving across our northern border.

What have we come to?

The FairTax Proposal

September 20, 2005

I’ve never “gotten involved” in politics before—but one legislative proposal I’ve read about really has me fired up. The Fairtax Proposal. I can’t think of an issue to unite the country more than abolishing the IRS for individuals. In a nutshell, the proposal aims to abolish the income tax, and replace it with a national sales tax that will raise the same amount of revenue for the gov’t, but without the April 15th dread we all feel. You owe it to yourself to learn about it, get behind the movement, and help push this initiative onto the public stage. (And yes, I read the Neil Boortz book on the subject The FairTax Book.)
